Aghabani

What is Aghabani?
Aghabani’s name comes from its color, yellow oranged, the color of Saffron, as well as the stitch type used in embroidery, which is a repeated cross.

1.2 Manufacturing
* The basic texture maybe
local flax
Organza
(imported from Switzerland,
India, and Egypt.)
Local “Saya”
(Damascene type of Textile)

* Fabric cutting.
* Over locking.
* Drawing the motifs on paper by draftsmen.
* Printing these motifs on the basic texture.
* There are 9 basic motifs:

- Akhul Hugob
- Crab - Damascene rose
- The camel step
- Magida
- Pomegranate seed (colored)
- Double S
- Climber
- Small Damma Different combinations of these motifs can be made of in rich designs.

* Applying embroidery according to the printed designs by artificial silk threads. Different colors of fabric with different colors of silk threads, make many wonderful combinations. Sometimes, the fabric and the threads might be dyed with the same color giving very elegant pieces (the gold and silver threads are not dyeable). Because each seamstress has her own way, it is hard to achieve a complete similarity.
* After the embroidery is done, pieces are to be washed of printing marks, and then ironed.
* Finishing.
